Having grown up in a eating and drinking-obsessed home, I always knew my future was filled with food. I studied English Literature at Leeds University, then followed the cooking smells to the River Cafe, where I worked for many happy years before leaving to pursue a career as a food writer and cook. I worked for Jamie Oliver at Jamie Magazine, then joined the restaurateur Stevie Parle helping write his weekly Telegraph column and his cookbooks, while also working as a chef at his restaurant, the Dock Kitchen. I currently assist Thomasina Miers with her Guardian Weekend column and books.

I work independently as a recipe developer, restaurant consultant and stylist. I've worked with a range of clients, including Natoora, Wahaca, Daily Goods, Arts Council England, Google, The Gagosian, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Cadbury, The Telegraph, The Wall Street Journal, Guardian Cook, Root and Bone, Penguin Random House, Square Peg, and many more.

I bring my passion for seasonal ingredients to every job I do, and believe that nothing is more important than conveying the joy of cooking and eating.
